Joshua Quddus is a saxophonist, bandleader, and modern composer whose works draw from a span of diverse backgrounds—mainly placing carnatic music in the context of contemporary jazz. His quartet plays weekly in New York City, performing original music that speaks to his cultural and social background.
An accomplished musician in study, Quddus has graduated from the Juilliard School's Preparatory Division, winning the Commencement Award in recognition of outstanding musicianship. Dually achieving in performance, Joshua has played alongside renowned jazz musicians such as Chris Potter, Rufus Reid, Mike Rodriguez, Linda May Han Oh, Ingrid Jensen, Miguel Zenón, Stefon Harris, and Alan Ferber. He has carried his musical gift to world-recognized stages such as Carnegie Hall, The Apollo Theatre, Alice Tully Hall, Birdland Jazz Club, Dizzy's Coca-Cola Club, Rose Theater, The Times Center, and more.
His talent has been nationally recognized 3x by the YoungArts National Competition.
Joshua awaits an exciting China tour this summer with his quartet, playing around Beijing and Shanghai for two weeks starting late June.
